"Striped Silk Bourrette Quilt - Provence Late 18th Century"
Late 18th century, early 19th century Alpes de Haute Provence A rustic and moving Provencal quilt from the south of the Alps, quilted quilted in Fuschia and purple striped silk Bourrette dating from the 18th century. Probably a foot cover. Later assembly before 1830. First Empire lining in cotton printed with white polka dots with a greenish goose poop background. Piece from my personal collection collected in Forcalquier in the 1980s. Slight patina from time, notably on the central fold, a few period repairs, but no holes or “loose” fabric! In its own juice and usable as decoration without any unpleasant surprises. Beautiful structural and conservation condition. Dimensions: 121cm x 110cm.
