Mill on the banks of a river 13.5x12.5cm signed lower right period frame in gilded wood 26.5x25cm & A walk along the river (circa 1895) Most probably in Charenton 13x12.5cm signed lower right left period frame in gilded wood 26.5x25cm Related works. Two paintings sold at auction and showing the same composition; A Walk along the River (1896), hst 54 x 73 cm, Sotheby's New York 02/09/1999. & The Charenton Cabaret in Spring (1895) hst 54x73 cm, Sotheby's, London 04/02/1998 would confirm the date of creation and the location of our painting. Alexandre René VERON (1826-1897) Montbazon1826-Paris1897 French landscape painter, member of the Barbizon School. he is the author of admirable views of Fontainebleau, Auvers-sur-Oise, Pontoise, Crécy-en-Brie, Asnières and Argenteuil. Student of Paul Delaroche, belonging to the group of Daubigny followers, he exhibited at the Salon from 1848. Public collections: Dole, Musée des Beaux-Arts Bequest Chalon, 1911 (a set of six works) Nantes Musée des Beaux-Arts In a sunny clearing, the father paints, the mother knits next to him and the children play.
