Very fine magnifying glass portrait of a man of quality (certainly a scientist or researcher) by Aimée Eugénie Delville-Cordier (1822-1899).
Aimée Eugénie Delville-Cordier was a French artist specializing in miniatures. She was the adopted daughter of mycologist François-Simon Cordier (1797-1874), one of the great mycologists of the 19th century, but also a physician and botanist. He was also a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
This miniature may represent a portrait of his father.

Condition of painting: satisfactory condition, the miniature shows :
1 tear on the left side +-6cm .
1 tear on the top center that descends +-6cm.

Dated: 1853.
