"Elegant Lacquered And Gilded Footstool, Empire Period."
Elegant lacquered and gilded footstool, Empire period. Important footstool, decorated with sinuous scrolls and enriched with leaf and floral motifs, resting on sculpted ball supports. On the bottom you can see firebrands bearing the initials C R, divided by the crown symbol and the numbers 4855 • 1•. Marks that are also repeated on the padded frame (perhaps inventory numbers). The state of conservation of the wood is excellent, the gilding has been covered by glitter (the underlying gold leaf gilding is visible) and it has been re-lacquered. It requires paint stripping to bring the lacquer and original gilding back to the surface. Measurement cm. 46 x 31.5 - height cm. 21.5 / 19
