Comtois Movements With Four Bells flag

Object description :

"Comtois Movements With Four Bells"
We present for sale this Comtois clock mechanism with four bells. The mechanics are from the 1st quarter of the 19th century because the exhaust is at the front. In any case, it is a mechanism that has been tinkered with at some point. The pediment with an eagle seems original to us but this cartridge dial raised in relation to the steel facade of the mechanism seems incoherent to us. However, the three holes for winding the three weights are in alignment but the steel support on which the cartridge dial is placed comes from elsewhere because there are two holes which do not correspond to this mechanism. So there could be a possibility that the cartridge front goes with this mechanism because cartridge movements existed at the beginning of the 19th century. But then why raised this facade which nevertheless corresponds to this mechanism. The hands are forged and pretty. We'll let you be the judge, but the more I look at it, the more I think that mechanics, cartridge dial, pediment and bells go together. (E23)
