Student of Claude Monet, Antoine Guillemet and Alexandre Nozal , he produced numerous oils on canvas, but also etchings, watercolors and murals. Renowned as an army painter during the 1914-1918 war, he left around 1929 to join the group of Concarneau painters. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Paris from 1901 until 1931, and received a second class medal in 1912 for Winter in the Marsh, Snow Effect, which classified him out of competition for the rest of his career.
