"Rennes 1766 Silver Jug 18th Boisset Family"
Breton silver jug from the 18th century It rests on 3 claw feet with oval attachments enhanced with chiseled fillets. The side handle in blackened wood. Pretty and elegant seed on the grip of the lid (a similar seed is referenced on a Rennaise pourer from 1784 page 326 "Goldsmithing in Upper Brittany"). Fine Hallmarks of the City of Rennes 1766 (letter O) by the goldsmith Buchet Pierre Julien, from the famous Rennais goldsmith dynasty. Each element is marked (the 3 feet, the bottom, the lid and the spout). The coat of arms engraved on the side belongs to the De Boisset Family. This model of jug, with these very particular feet, is typical of Rennaise Production. Several jugs with identical feet are referenced in works on Breton goldsmithing.
