Very beautiful composition.
The landscape in the background, the sky, the skin tones and certain details (the hat, the basket) are painted directly on the embroidery canvas, with great finesse.
The essential part of the composition is then embroidered, following the complex technique of the passé empiétant, the great difficulty of which consists in creating the shading and the illusion of movement - which are perfectly successful here.
We will notice in certain details the great skill of the embroiderer: the subject of the little fisherman, for example, is in itself a work of art.

The general condition is good. The darker area around the female subject is due to an old repair with adhesive paper, on the back of the canvas: the glue has darkened over time.
On the back, on the original cardboard, the handwritten mention "Susanne [?] Frey / Souvenir de Mlle Adèle Erard"
