The case is oblong, with a square section.
A movable part on an axis, held by a spring, forms a “clamp” which holds the wax stick.
The base forms a seal which has remained blank.
One side of the case is engraved in centimeters to form a ruler.
It contains a partially used stick of red wax marked "Au Printemps Paris".
The case is hallmarked:
. Lion Passing for Solid English Silver
. The difference of the city of Chester
. The letter dates H for the year 1908-1909
. Goldsmith's mark: SM & Co (?); perhaps for S Morgan & Co Ltd
. French import hallmark with weevil
Very interesting and rare wax case forming a stamp, made in England then engraved in France to form a rule.
6 inches long
1.8 cm side for the matrix
57.65 grams without the wax stick
