"Small Walnut Desk, Louis XVI Style – Late 19th Century"
This middle desk in solid walnut is composed on the front of two drawers of the same dimensions, molded in ogee, on each side. The upper ones close using original working locks with brass inlaid keys and entrances. The bottom ones have a wooden button. This desk also opens with a central drawer of the same composition. Below the latter, the leg passage is decorated with two small consoles. The sides and back of this piece of furniture are very sober and finished. This set rests on four turned legs whose central spindle part is fluted. The miter-cut frame top, decorated with a groove and a corbin beak, is lined with well-jointed boards. It conceals, under its right side, a sliding shelf. With its soft lines and warm color, this Louis XVI style desk is a timeless and rare piece of furniture in terms of its dimensions. ******** Period: Late 19th century. Excellent condition.
