Very nice ceramic stoup, from Sinceny factory, with hollow polychrom design (metal oxides of cobalt, copper, antimony and iron, fired at the same time -1 firing only, as the powder of staniferous enamel, making it possible to obtain in order the colours blue, green, yellow and red) of Christ on the cross, framed by the Passion's attributes (the spear and the staff terminated by a sponge having been used according to christian Tradition to collect sweat and blood of Christ)
Hollow christ obtained by mould made before earthenware firing
The religious thema is surprisingly surrounded by a lys flower, monarchicl symbol.
Perfect condition, which stay rae, cause a lot of these folkart are now broken and / or repaired at the level of the attachment between the folder and the bowl to receive the holy water.
Very nice enamail quality, lightly blued and unsused, due to an overloading of tin in enamel powder composition, colors are specially bright (specially red one, which usually tended to brown or dark and had often unsightly cooking bubbles)
However, the most recent ceramic research tends to attribute these holy water fonts to Rouen factories, and in particular to the workshops of Pierre Paul CAUSSY (please check last photo of this announcement for an exactly similar stoup with same pattern, repaired to its point of fragility by 2 staples)
