Nice pair of ivory carved and green tinted panels from a miniature tryptich
These 2 small panels are very fine carved on their main side and on the reverse, with rounded profile:
* inside sides of the tryptich with 2 Saints figures, certainly on the left Mary, Mother of God and Right-hand side Saint John the Theologian
(The central main panel is missing, but must have depicted a crucifixion.)
Note: these 2 panels here on their pexyglas stand are prsented on the wrong order, cause the 2 saints figures look both normally the Christ. This is also supported by the position of studs of the flaps that served as articulation of the triptych, positioned on the lowest side of the arch.
* on the 2 external sides, 2 large cross inside architectural arcades
These 4 represntations are each time surrounded inside rounded sizes by square byzantin cross, each one decorated by 5 small circles on their ends and center.
Very good condition, with green tinted color of ivory very well preserved, even if it is lighter in places of the panels where they have been touched (this attests on the same time to their age and frequent handling.)
Elegant pexyglas base that allows light to be retained for an elegant presentation, and at the same time to protect the precious carved panels.
Sizes
67mm high * 18mm large by 6mm depth for each panel
and 127mm hign * 70 mm large and 47mm depth for the pexyglas stand support
Very nice item for Haute Epoque and archeologia refined items collection
