"Couple Of Parrots In Polychrome Porcelain From Sitzendorf"
Couple of parrots perched on branches in polychrome porcelain, underglaze blue mark from the Sitzendorf factory (Thuringia), second half of the 19th century. Some small losses to the flowers and foliage. After discovering the secret of manufacturing porcelain in 1760 in Sitzendorf, Georg Heinrich Macheleid opened a factory in Volkstedt two years later. That of Sitzendorf opened again around 1850 and became famous outside Saxony. Today the Sitzendorf brand is still one of the most prestigious in Saxony porcelain.
