*Jacques TRUPHEMUS, painter from Lyon, was born on October 25, 1922 in Grenoble (Isère). He lived and worked first in Grenoble, then in Lyon and in the Cévennes. A student of Chancrin, Laplace, Chartres and Vieilly at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon (1942-1945), his classmates were Cottavoz, Fusaro, P. Coquet, H. Mouriquand and Philibert-Charrin. In 1947, he went to Paris and drew at La Grande Chaumière. That same year, he exhibited at the first “salon for those under thirty” alongside André Cottavoz and Bernard Buffet. Back in Lyon, in 1948 he founded the “Sansiste” group with his Beaux-Arts accomplices, which exhibited the chapel of the Ampère high school.
