"Clotilde De France, Carrara Marble Bust"
Rare white Carrara marble bust representing Marie-Adélaïde-Clotilde of France, known as Clotilde of France, Daughter of France, Princess of Piedmont, Queen of Piedmont-Sardinia (1759-1802), granddaughter of Louis XV and sister of Louis XVI of Louis XVIII and Charles X.Another known example of this marble is exhibited at the Palace of Versailles, where it is mentioned "anonymous artist 18th century", it was purchased by Louis-Philippe from Mr. Geissenhoffer, by decision of October 11, 1834 for the Historical Galleries of Versailles ; entered Versailles on October 15, 1834. Mentioned in 1839, 1850 and 1881 in the room of the Queen's Guards (listed by mistake in the Soulié catalog under the name of Madame Elisabeth, sister of Louis XVI).
Exhibited today in Madame Adélaïde's Grand Cabinet, room n°58, since June 1965.
