Dimensions: 145 x 105 cm With frame: 172 x 134 cm
An impressionist portrait of a little girl with a bouquet dated 1884. The simplicity and reality that emanates from the painting gives a timelessness to this artwork.
The portrait is a space of representation, of staging the character.
This large full-length portrait features a smiling little girl, with a rosy complexion and lively eyes. It seems to lend itself to model play. The heavy red curtain serving as a background to the canvas as well as the floor with colored stripes evokes a performance scene.
A skilful use of colors in Duyver's work.
The velvety navy blue of her dress with the white lace collar and cuffs, the delicate little golden ear pendants, the patent shoes and the small bouquet of roses bring delicacy to the work. The luminous face of the model as well as the white embroidery of her dress stand out and stand out against the purple red of the curtain. Her rosy complexion is enhanced by the dazzling white of the lace.
