"Pair Of Candelabras With Flower Vases - Louis XVI Period"
PAIR OF CANDELABRA WITH FLOWER VASES LOUIS XVI period Chiseled and gilded bronze - white marble Height: 30 cm Provenance: Château de Keralio Pair of candelabra in chiseled and gilded bronze, with three sconces decorated with leafy branches, roses and tulips . The white marble vases, baluster-shaped, have two twisted handles in gilded bronze. The whole rests on a gilded bronze pedestal decorated with laurel leaves, and a square white marble base with a frieze of rows of pearls. Condition: welding on one arm and two handles. A broken brass strip on a base. This type of candelabra in the shape of a vase garnished with branches and flowers is characteristic of the Louis XVI taste, marked by the return to nature. Candelabra vases are present in various museums, notably the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Jacquemart-André museum and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The pair of candelabras that we are presenting is a small model, but with very fine carving and which retains its original mercury gilding. Due to its modest dimensions, these candelabras can be placed very easily in an opulent or more minimalist interior.
