According to the research I have done, it would be the mark of a monastery; the bee being a symbol used by monks who spread the good word like bees spread pollen from flower to flower and allow the birth of fruits and their seeds! The bee also plays a major role in the Easter night liturgy: the Exultet includes a section called "Laus ceri", which pays homage to the bee for collecting the wax from the Easter candle.
