Masque Dan Maou Cote d'Ivoire known as comb, significant ceremonial patina, total height 45 cm, good condition. It's quite rare to see comb masks among the Dans, but they have hundreds of mask models and sometimes very surprising ones! We find the famous beak of this Dan subgroup, the Maous, and a significant shamanic patina made from projection through the mouth, undoubtedly beer and millet flour. The beak has a very sophisticated shape, in double arches, a marvel of sculpture that I had never seen before. The attachment holes on the sides are very worn and attest to the important use of the mask.
Also note the 2 small bags attached to the sides, probably with magical materials.
