"Cc Embroidered Jersey Knit Sailor Dress In The Taste Of Coco Chanel - France Circa 1920"
Circa 1918-1922 France Astonishing Sailor dress in two-tone navy and cream silk jersey knit with CC embroidery in the style of Coco Chanel who invented this type of seaside dress in 1917 with Maison Rodier. Definitely haute couture work in the assembly and finishing of this straight and loose dress with small sleeves and large shawl collar emphasizing a modest bib. Cream silk floche embroidery with a design of labyrinths and friezes with ethnic geometry. Fine darts highlighting the waist with a reversible two-tone belt embroidered with the CC (?) monogram. Note four tiny needle holes in the back at the collar, no other defects to report. Without an underdress on which there must have been a Couture label. Rare and enigmatic collector's item. Good general structural condition. Dimensions: Equivalent to France size 38-40. Height 115 cm, shoulders 41 cm, chest 95-99 cm, waist 71-76 cm, hips 95-100 cm.
