Circa 1830-1850 France or Europe Masterful headdress with flap in indigo or pastel dyed linen dating from the Romantic period. Cap base with corded hoops, large flap at the back and ruffles with double rows of bobbin lace framing the face. Closed in front with two matching ties and large flap edged with lace covering the neck. Small halos of depigmentation of the blue dye giving a rather charming shade of sky blue. A few small needle holes and two small stains on the lace, the only defects to report. Rare item! Good condition. Dimensions: Cup size 50 cm, flap height 16 cm, ruffle width 9 cm.
