"Dieter Grandt (1934 - ?), Oil On Canvas, Montmartre Place Du Tertre In Paris, 20th Century"
Oil on canvas signed upper right by Dieter (or Didier) Grandt and dated 1969. This painting represents a lively scene from the Place du Tertre in Montmartre, with the Sacré-Coeur basilica in the background. The scene takes place in winter, under a twilight blue sky from which the silhouette of a tree stands out, all contrasting with the white of the facades of the buildings and the Sacré-Coeur which capture the last light of the day, as well as with the bright colors of the cafe fronts and the coats of onlookers who casually listen to a guitarist playing music on the sidewalk. This contrast of colors brings the painting to life.
