"Very Important Oriental Basin, "heap" In Chiseled Brass, Middle East From The 19th Century"
Very important "Tâs" Basin, in chiseled brass on a black bituminous background, with a domed base and convex wall, presenting incised decorations and traces of inlays.
Unique piece of incredible size and incomparable carving quality.
This “Tâs”, originally from the Middle East, dates from the second part of the 19th century.
Our model presents a decoration of eight very ornate hexagonal medallions highlighted by calligraphed bands.
All of the spaces outside the medallions of the body are covered with friezes, interlacing and epigraphic decorations, medallions of beautiful finesse. ## The medallions present in the decoration a certain resemblance to the pattern of the Marby carpet, present in the Stockholm History Museum, carpet from the first half of the 15th century, see photo.
These vessels, abundantly carved with marvelous engravings, were the joy and pride of the collections of the princes of that era and the delight of collectors of Islamic art today. Attention masterpiece of great beauty.
