Tahan Jean-Pierre-Alexandre, born in Paris (1813 – 1892). It was under his leadership that the Tahan house took on a great extension and became one of the most famous in Paris. He was one of the official cabinetmakers of Napoleon III, and continued like his father to make boxes, necessary and caskets; but he became above all the specialist in small precious pieces of furniture. He participated in all the exhibitions from 1849 to 1867; he obtained a silver medal in 1849, a second class medal in London in 1852 and the gold medal in 1867. In 1865, at the exhibition organized by the central union of Fine Arts, he received a medal for the many and varied set of its exhibition: luxury cabinetmaking, boxes, frames etc…..
