Object description :

"Bronze Oil Lamp Krishna Mandir Temple"
This hanging oil lamp was designed for use in a Hindu temple. Its shape closely follows that of the Krishna temple built in 1637 in Patan, Nepal. The corners are decorated with figures of crouching monkeys, four leaf-shaped trays holding the wicks with relief representations of the god Ganesha, accompanied by two guardian lions. Suspended under the base of the temple, nine leaf-shaped lappet pendants, the temple is suspended by a chain with hollow links, also very decorative. Dating from the beginning of the 20th century. These lamps come from the estate of the art dealer Claude de Marteau, they were probably part of the stock of his shop which he kept until the beginning of the 1970s, rue de la Régence in Brussels. We have a very limited number of copies. Overall temple H 45 cm x 30 x 30 cm Chain length: 160 cm Total weight: approximately 4.4 kg
