"Small Tiered Desk Convertible Into A Game Table, Mid-19th Century"
Charming little tiered desk in solid rosewood and rosewood veneer. It rests on four turned legs fitted with bronze shoe and caster. It opens in a belt with a drawer (original keys and locks for the entire piece of furniture.) For the upper part, the locking of the upper drawer triggers that of the two small drawers below. The whole is inlaid with brass fillets, the top of the desk is decorated with floral decoration and chiseled brass rosettes as well as a framed figure. The upper part of the furniture can be dislocated; for this purpose, two sockets are carved on the sides of the upper openwork gallery. Once the upper part is removed, the furniture top unfolds into three elements, on the front it rests on the open drawer and at the back on two pulls and transforms into a game table. (dim 96.5 cm x 64 .5 cm.) Felt changed. Ink stamp of a Parisian house and a date: June 10, 1867, Monsieur Chaillou. In good condition, varnish revised. Work of the Second Empire
