"The Tuileries Gardens, Paris"
Elegant painting, representing the perspective of the Champs Elysees from the Tuileries pond, to the Etoile, painted on panel in the 1930s, by Louis Willaume. The picture is relaxing, with this greenery, this jet of water and the children's boats playing sailor. This clearly illustrates the haven of peace that this garden in the heart of the city is for Parisians. Louis Willaume (1874-1949) is a student of Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier, who received numerous prizes, notably the Corot prize in 1925. He was an etching engraver, a large collection of his engravings is kept at the BNF. The Musée d'Orsay has one of his works. The painting was recently cleaned, and its frame was replaced with a pleasant Montparnasse whose patina plays with the shimmer of the water jet.
