"19th Century French Marble Top And Gilt Brass Pastry Or Butchers Display Table "
This exceptional 19th century marble-topped pastry (or butcher's) table in lacquered cast iron and gilt brass, features large C-Scroll legs with wrought iron stretchers connecting each end. The top is original marble, with a few dents and scratches in keeping with its age, while the decorative apron below features a linear motif of acanthus leaves and palmettes. Tables such as this one were originally used in patisserie shops, but also to display decorative cuts of meat in the 'boucherie' (butcher's). This ornate table would serve as a unique console or center table.
