1ST EMPIRE/RESTORATION, Short mamluk dagger of a naval officer, 19th century. Non-regulatory dagger. No visible hallmark due to the Emperor's ban, the furnishers wanting to remain anonymous for this reason. Dagger of influence inspired by return from Egypt. 33 cm flat blade, very curved with groove on 2 thirds, 1 edge and counter-edged point of 9 cm. Squared and vertically striped ebony spindle. Brass end inverted quillon guard with 3 beaded ball mounting ring. Oval brass pommel with riveting button and circular groove. Chain (rear connecting the quillon to the pommel. Brass scabbard imitating the shape of a saber scabbard with 2 bracelets with rings and asymmetrical bouterolles.
