Exceptional desk table in solid ribboned satin wood resting on four guaiac baluster legs connected by an concealed studs on the side rails. The front rail under the drawer is scrolled, the side and back rails are finely molded. The bottoms and sides of the dovetailed drawer are made of original fir, it has retained its pretty guaiac top. Exceptional Rochelais work from the beginning of the 18th century in a very good state of conservation, the simple backup restorations were carried out by an experienced cabinetmaker. Furniture in solid ribboned satin wood is extremely rare, for its characteristic reflections, the great Parisian cabinetmakers such as Oeben and Riesener used it as a veneer on royal orders. Note, a ball at the bottom of the foot is in walnut, restoration carried out in the 19th century by a carpenter or cabinetmaker who no longer had guaiac wood.
