"Aizelin Eugène-antoine (1821-1902) Shepherd Sculptor"
Important bronze group with original brown patina representing a young shepherd sitting on a rock and his dog, the shepherd sculpting the head of his dog on the pommel of his cane with a knife, it is signed E. AIZELIN on the base of the rock and bears on the base a cartridge engraved ''BERGER SCULPTOR by E.AIZELIN (HORS COMPETITION)''. Beautiful old cast iron from the second half of the 19th century. Weight 32 kg AIZELIN Eugène-Antoine (1821-1902) student of Jule Ramey and Auguste Dumont at the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1844, he made his debut at the Salon in 1852 and exhibited there regularly until 1897, he also participated in the Universal Exhibitions of 1878, 1889 and 1900. He obtained several awards at the Salon with a third medal in 1859 and a second medal in 1861, as well as at the Universal Exhibition a third medal in 1878 and a gold medal with the bronze model of the "Mignon" group in 1889.
