These stirrups date from the 19th century. They are very different from the most frequently encountered models which resemble curved hooves. (The lighter next to it is only there to visually give an idea of the size of the objects).
Their pyramid shape and very large size are intended to protect the feet and lower legs of the rider against prickly bushes. They are made of carved wood, and are reinforced with iron bands.
The wood shows wear over time, with small cracks here and there, but overall the condition is good, the leather straps are not broken, and the patina is nice. The photos speak for themselves.
This pair of stirrups, in addition to its volume, weighs approximately 4.500 kg, and therefore the shipping costs including the weight of the packaging are obviously a little higher than for a saber or a dagger...
