This colonnade takes the shape of a miniature temple portico. The different types of marble that compose it were all in use throughout Antiquity, strengthening the reference to the period while simultaneously rendering it precious. Ormolu adorns the base of the columns with a laurel crown and the corinthian capitals finely chiseled with bountiful details. The two external columns are placed slightly more forward, following the recess on the superior part of the pediment.

This decoration, which must have been part of an important centerpiece, is reminiscent of the work of Luigi Righetti whose drawings present the same arrangement of precious marbles and rich ormolu decor.
