Western Cameroon, Bamiléké people, first third of the 20th century, superb and important zoomorphic helmet mask of great antiquity representing a stylized buffalo head with curved horns presenting an engraved decoration and a beautiful carved jaw. This rare Babanki-Tungo mask is worn by members of the “Yam Fun” society.Dimensions: Total height with base 52.5 cm. Height of the mask alone 47.5 cm. Length of mask 51.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone.
Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear.
