Alexandre FALGUIERE (1831-1900) born in Toulouse, he learned drawing in Paris at Carrier-Belleuse and entered the school of fine arts in the workshop of François Jouffroy in 1854. He started at the salon in 1857 and won the Prix de Rome in 1859 with Mézence injured. He then spent five years at the French academy, the Villa Medici in Rome.
