French school 19th Century, circa 1870 Alexandre FALGUIERE (Toulouse 1831 - Paris 1900)
"Diane the huntress" Bronze print with nuanced brown patina. By Thiébaut Frères in Paris.
Depicting a young naked Diana in movement, with pure lines.
Rare model, little published which had great success at its creation for its elegance, its beauty and its realism worthy of antique statues.
Signed "A. Falguière" and stamped "Thiébaut Frères fondeurs Paris" on the terrace.
Height: 54 cm.

Alexandre FALGUIERE (1831-1900) born in Toulouse, he learned drawing in Paris at Carrier-Belleuse and entered the school of fine arts in the workshop of François Jouffroy in 1854. He started at the salon in 1857 and won the Prix de Rome in 1859 with Mézence injured. He then spent five years at the French academy, the Villa Medici in Rome.
