Everything in this portrait is of extreme finesse, whether it is the ravishing face of the woman, her hands but also her blue dress with almost palpable lace.
Rich in details, we find around the shot of Marguerite a cameo, also she holds in her hands pretty flowers, which seem to be daisies in reminder of the name of this beautiful young woman.
The woman poses in a bourgeois decor Napoleon III.
On the back of the painting an annotation tells us more about the woman represented here:
"Madame Jules Clairin née Marguerite Feisne 1817 - 1858
His mother Marguerite Marchand was the sister of Comte Marchand
And the little daughter of Mme Marchand, born Marie Marguerite Brocques, lullaby of the King of Rome "
