DESCRIPTION: Very beautiful support unit in Boulle marquetry, stamped in several places by Befort Jeune, a major cabinetmaker and reference of the second half of the 19th century. Boulle marquetry in brass and black horn, with motifs of foliage, scrolls, interlacing, characters, phoenix, framing a bronze character with the effigy of Bacchus, resting on an apron topped with a ribbon. Typical spandrels of the Befort house at the corners, sides decorated with a Bacchus mask framed by spandrels. Very rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes, with multiple ingot molds, high falls with feminine terms. Apron decorated with a mask of Mercury framed by two crescents. marquetry at the top on all sides. Interior in Rio rosewood with two adjustable shelves finely inlaid on the edge with a double brass fillet, top in black Aleppo marble.
