"Paris 1783, Oval Dish , Sterling Silver, Louis XVI Period"
Very pretty Louis XVI period oval dish in solid silver. It is very delicately engraved with garlands of leaves and flowers and decorated with a frieze of pearls on its edge. At the ends, strawberries and strawberry foliage seem to confirm the thesis that this tray was designed as a dish for a covered sugar bowl which traditionally has strawberries as a lid grip. The Paris and Jurande hallmarks tell us that this little marvel was made in 1783.
