"Alphonse Debain: Set Of 6 Sterling Silver & Vermeil Salt Cellars Art Nouveau Period Decor Japonisme "
Spectacular and rare ART NOUVEAU Salt Cellars Service c.1900. Service comprised of 6 salt cellars with exceptional Japonisme decoration, different on each of the 6 cellars, composed of leafy branches, flowers, and insects on a stippled ground, a complete set with original crystal interiors and salt spoons. Interiors of the salt cellars and the spoon bowls are in Vermeil (18 carat Gold on Silver). Just like the salt cellars, Debain has made slight variations to each of the 6 spoon handles, adding to the unquestionable charm and uniqueness of this service. It is presented in its original atypical diamond-shaped box with a gold-tooled Count's Crown on the lid, and fitted interior lined with red-vermilion silk and velvet signed by its retailer Maison Pacilly / Charuyer Succ. à Rennes.
Meticulously hand crafted from the highest quality silver, each piece is punched with the Minerva 1st Standard Hallmark (
.950) and mark of reknowned Master Goldsmith Alphonse DEBAIN (Hallmark with the initials "AD" and a woodcock) active in
1883. This outstanding service with fabulous ART NOUVEAU decor is in excellent condition, serviced and cleaned by our Parisian Goldsmith, complete with original crystal interiors and spoons, and retains its original box. The vermeil is beautifully preserved, and no damage to the crystal interiors. A truly exceptional service to discover through the attached photos...
