"Rare Art Nouveau Jugendstil Clock"
Exceptional Art Nouveau clock, German or Austrian manufacture, Jugenstil or Viennese Secession. In mahogany and embossed copper. Functional and complete, has its 2 winding keys, its balance wheel and its original movement. However, it has not been revised. The movement could not be photographed because the body would have had to be dismantled, but we wanted to leave the object in its original configuration. The dial is simply sumptuous: decorated with butterflies and stylized flamed numerals typical of Art Nouveau, it is covered with curved glass. High quality work! The embossed copper facade trim is worked with floral and plant motifs with scrolls and 1900 curves. Two side hatches provide access to the simple movement settings. The lower part containing the balance wheel opens with a window. An original label with a number remains on the back of the case. Note a small tin solder in the internal junction of the dial window closure (invisible once closed), as well as a little play in the closure fixing. This is the first time that we have encountered a model of wall clock so elaborate and so richly decorated. This is undoubtedly a Germanic work, typical of Jugendstil.
