Pair Of Porcelain Pot Covers From Paris 1820

Painted and gilded porcelain.
These large pot covers were created in the spirit of ancient Greek pottery.
A matte black background reveals antique scenes in brilliant white. We recognize among others Athena, Hydria, Hermes, and probably Hercules in the Garden of the Hesperides.
On the side, detached rings are surrounded by palmettes and lotuses. A Greek frieze traces the base of the scenes and the foot and the rim are decorated with a frieze of small arcs.
The characters are enhanced with black lines like drawings.
All the motifs (friezes and characters) are particularly delicate and fine.
This time again we will notice the creative variety of Paris porcelain makers. You will see on my ads other Parisian porcelains that are completely different from each other, often of a quality very close to the beautiful pieces from Sèvres.
This work is also a technical feat, the perfect smoothing matte black background was applied afterwards by “cutting out” the characters and objects from the scenes.

Excellent condition, no loss or accident.
