"Lisbon Portugal 17th Century Dish"
Dish in Lisbon blue camaieu marked on the reverse ST.ANA XVIIth Diameter 34.5 cm Hair with flaking of the decoration which runs on the right side. Wing with a frieze of spiders (aranhoes) framing a soldier's decoration with cannonballs passing above. Perhaps a representation of the battle of Monte Claros which opposed the Portuguese to the Spanish in 1665 in a plain of the Alentejo.
