Object description :

"Kidney Commode In Precious Wood, Louis XIV / Louis XV Transition Style – Late 19th Century"
Charming Parisian-made middle chest of drawers, composed on the front of 3 identical, slightly curved drawers. Each of their facades has a rosewood veneer in its center positioned like a butterfly's wings. Around it, a double net of light wood and amaranth, alternated with geometric squares, is framed with miter-cut mahogany strips. In the center, we find a bronze key entrance topped with a Louis XVI knot from which a crown of foliage escapes. The original lock is in working order and its key is later. The interior of the drawers is made of oak. Below, a slightly cut crosspiece is decorated with bronze with Greco-Roman inspiration. On each side of this middle piece of furniture, a ¼ round mahogany wooden element is attached to the foot. This is composed of inlays of large nets in light wood and amaranth, decorated in the upper part with a large bronze drop and continuing with a slightly curved foot with a bronze hoof forming lion's paws. The sides have the same composition as the drawers on the front: rosewood veneer, light wood and amaranth strips. This chest of drawers is topped with Pyrenees Morello marble accompanied by an openwork brass gallery with front entrance. In addition to its quality and the taste brought to its manufacture, this piece of furniture delights with its golden ornamentation and its refinement. This piece of furniture, rare in its shape, benefits from an ideal dimension. ********* Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition inside and out after restoration in our workshop.
