"Very Large Empire Coffee Pot, Sterling Silver, Brussels 1814-1826, Henri Pierre Buchet"
Very impressive coffee pot or cafetière in the style of the french First Empire, dating from the Restoration period. It is sober in shape but decorated with very sumptuous decorative elements typical of this style. The duck's head spout and the Native American princess handle attachment are magnificent. On the belly of the coffee pot are the alliance coats of arms of the families of Cambry de Baudimont and Le Fevere de Tenhove. It is marked with the guarantee hallmarks for solid silver from the Brussels control office for the period 1814-1831. The master goldsmith's mark is that of Henri Buchet who died in 1826, which allows a more precise dating between 1814 and 1826. It weighs 1070 grams.
