Pair Of Large Ionic Capitals Around 1780

Description:
Chiseled, gilded bronze

These very important real estate bronzes represent the volutes surmounted by the cornice in the Ionic style model. We are in very pure proportions close to the original ancient Greek design.
The raw bronze on the back indicates that they were set in masonry or woodwork. These capitals are slightly arched from right to left, the woodwork or the walls were rounded, like a hemicycle.
The quality of the bronze is perfect, clear in the scroll moldings. Real estate bronzes are very rare because they were almost all recovered by scrap dealers (see “death and statues”).

Condition:
Excellent condition, have been gilded with gold leaf and bases to be used too in sculptures. The base can very easily be organized into a lamp.
