GENIN Lucien
Born November 9, 1894 in Rouen / Died 1953 in Paris.
Urban landscape painter, gouache painter, watercolorist, pastellist, draughtsman, post-impressionist.
Lucien Génin began his career as a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, before being admitted to the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1919. In 1932, Lucien Génin received an award from the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1960, a solo exhibition of his work was held in Paris. Lucien Génin painted in oil and gouache.
Lucien Génin received extensive training, but developed a spontaneous personal technique with an innocent eye for the simple things in life. Lucien Génin mainly painted in Paris, but a few views of Rouen, Lorient, Dinan, Marseille or Villefranche-sur-mer are worth noting. Lucien Génin specialized entirely in the highly sought-after theme of views of Paris. Lucien Génin painted with extremely quick, easy brushstrokes, which explains his abundant output.
