"Audemars Freres Pocket Watch, 1905"
Pocket watch “Audemars Frères Geneve”, circa 1905 The original Louis Benjamin Audemars company was founded in 1811 in Le Brassus and was a brand particularly known for its complicated watches. In 1885 it went bankrupt and was liquidated.
In 1885-86, three successive companies were founded by four nephews of Louis Audemars: Audemars Frères, François Audemars Fils, Louis Audemars & Cie.
Audemars Frères was founded by brothers Charles-Henri and Hector Audemars and flourished until around 1910, when it was put into liquidation by a Russian customer who had "forgotten" to pay a very large invoice.
Charles-Henri and Hector made beautiful and complicated watches and their company is today the best known of the three later companies.
800 silver case in excellent condition. Internal brand "Audemars Frères".
Cover engraved "Audemars Freres Geneve Medailles obtained...".
Diameter 51 mm.
White enameled dial with Arabic numerals. Original hands. Mineral glass.
Signed “Audemars Fréres Geneve”
Golden movement with patent No. 9152 filed on November 27, 1902, anchor escapement.
Excellent quality.
Good condition, it works well, recently serviced.
