Black Forest* carved wooden cigar box or humidor, decorated with a bird (partridge type) on the lid, standing on a wall decorated with ivy leaves, interior space for 50 cigars, 19th century vintage. This box is in good condition. Note: a few wormholes on the sides of the box, some scratches and wear from time, see photos. * Black Forest or Black Forest Carved wooden objects from the Black Forest did not originate in Germany but were made in the Brienz region of Switzerland. The tradition of woodworking is ancestral in this region, the inhabitants perpetuate the practice of carved wood on the facades of houses, furniture or everyday objects. The sculptors excel in particular in the representation of wild animals in their natural environment. In the 19th century, these naturalistic sculptures from the black forest became very fashionable and highly prized.
