Ángel Lizcano (1846-1929) entered the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts, directed by Federido de Madrazo, at the age of fourteen. He completed his training at the Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving and trained to copy the great masters of the Prado Museum. His varied subjects include small paintings with figures and atmospheres from the 16th and 17th centuries, genre scenes or scenes captured in nature, in which he gives free rein to his imagination.
