"Large Regence Period Sofa (1715-1723) With Garnir"
Large Regency period sofa (1715-1723), in molded and carved beech decorated with palmettes and foliage resting on 8 arched legs ending in a winding. To garnish. Completely revised by our cabinetmaker. Superb restoration work. H x W x D = 110 x 210 x 70cm. What we think: this very beautiful sofa is quite spectacular because it is relatively large. The sculpture is magnificent. We chose to leave it in barrel, therefore to be garnished with a corresponding price, because the choice of fabrics is really a personal matter. We have several good-level upholsterers who can carry out this work for you at reasonable prices. It was saved by our cabinetmaker and therefore completely overhauled. Did you know ? : The Regency is a fairly short period corresponding to the minority of Louis XV (1715-1723) and during which Philippe II, Duke of Orléans (the Regent), exercised power, after the will of Louis who intended to limit his power. The Regency style is a transitional style between the Louis XIV and Louis elegance (invention of the curved line). Our sofa is the perfect example with a back without a high crosspiece (legacy of the Louis XIV style) and a base without a crosspiece and already curved which announces the rocaille style.
